Oulu (Swedish: Uleåborg) , Heavy-Metal capital of Northern-Finland, Ostrobothnia, in Finland. It is the largest city in Northern Finland and the sixth largest city in the country. Its population growth rate is almost comparable with that of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area.

VENUES
We are still dreaming to get own culture central where to have tv-parties, workshops, gigs etc. Meanwhile most of the shows are hosted in Ykän Pub which is small place outside of Oulu downtown. Park 57 used to be place where we did also lot of shows last years and I ques it still open for the shows. If you are more into acustic music you should go to Lentävä Lautanen or PSK Kaupunni. Lentävä Lautanen used to be number one place to do punk/hardcore shows before neigbours complained about the noise. 45-Special is oldest and most known rock-club in Oulu, they are hosting biggest mainstream bands every week. Students, organisations etc. groups are also arranging happenings in 45-Special. Sometimes if you are lucky you can see d.i.y. punk/hardcore shows over there too.

ORGANISATIONS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES
PASKAKAUPUNNI RY is organisation who is doing most of the d.i.y shows in Oulu. Paskakaupunni ry´s biggest happening is punk/hardcore festival Hässäkkä-päivät and Rotos Loves Paskis -festival. Crustoberfest (shitloads of crusties are touring through Northern cities) have been organised three times now and two times in Luleå too. Other active livemusic organisation is called ROTOS RY which are not so into punk/hardcore but are have great d.i.y ideology. TURBOJUGEND OULU RY was biggest Turbonegro fanclub in Scandinavia and they were active few years with fixing punk/indie/rock/heavy bands shows in 45-special. They organised almost 100 TURBONIPPLES evenings and last show was last year. Uleåborgland Hardcore Crew & Zerominded did over 100 shows between yers 2000-2008 before Paskakaupunni ry started to take care all the shows who were earlier done by UHC & ZM.
Q-STOCK is big mainstream festival which have every year biggest finnish artists and big names from foreign countries. It´s not so interesting festival in my opinion, but it´s kinda cool to have such an big festival in Oulu too.

Anarchist Organisation seems to be active again and they are trying to rise up from hiatus, let see what is happenng. Animal Justice organisation ANIMALIA and OIKEUTTA ELÄIMILLE have also active members. LUONTO-LIITTO, GREENPEACE, YDINRYHMÄ etc organisations have also lot´s of supporters and activist.

SPORT
Tervarit are most kick-ass football team here in Oulu and don´t forget our kick-ass icehockey team Oulun Kärpät
